Yet nothing as characteristic. No previous president would have dared – really, no former commander would have imagined – unilaterally destroying major areas of the presidential residence in order to erect a palace-inspired entertainment space, with the active collaboration of some of the nation's most affluent, almost all of whom have business with federal agencies.

As bewildering as it is to observe the leader attempt to overturn the traditional concept regarding democracy and replace it with its polar opposite, there remains a substantial portion of Americans who wouldn't consider it entirely new.
