Star Refutes Anti-Vax Stance After Voicing Controversial Pandemic Film
The "Taken" star has given his voice to a new documentary that casts doubt on the legitimacy of vaccinations and praises ex- government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Film's Contentious Origins
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a well-known publication co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for assertions that the virus was caused by a problematic version of the influenza shot.
Her collaborator, the executive producer, has previously authored books with controversial figure Alex Jones. Heckenlively wrote online celebrating Neeson's participation in the project.
An Unequivocal Denial
The team of Liam Neeson have issued a response pushing back against implications that he supports anti-vax sentiments.
"Everyone can acknowledge that corruption may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be conflated with being against vaccines," the response reads. "Liam is not, and is not, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with the global charity underscores his enduring support for public-health initiatives."
The statement added that the star was not involved in crafting the film's narrative and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the producers.
Key Assertions Within the Documentary
According to the documentary, the voiceover spoken by Neeson features several controversial statements:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It argues that "science has become highly influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding the immunizations, it mentions a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Past Context and Current Issues
The film also references a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a correction by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
Recently, RFK Jr directed the Centers for Disease Control to alter its long-held position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the film, contrary to a fresh analysis from the global health body confirming no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Record of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," adding that "The conversation about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's script stating, "This marks not the conclusion of our story. It is the dawn of a different phase."
