NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes text commentary of Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on designated networks for another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and after last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the number of infractions both conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.

However it was positive to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall before direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They are first in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that battle.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily sending more than four defenders but they might plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said on a program that the Broncos might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this season's dark horses?

New TE their tight end has stepped up big while new RB JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows how the Broncos represent a squad that wants to run first, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in positive situations.

It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he is highly agile.

His assets are his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass across the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and is not bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

If you consistently rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to cover the area downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has bitten back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems the coach likes that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to have a rookie QB that is similar to moldable clay. He can truly develop him the way he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

The head coach has won a Super Bowl and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing offensively is largely due to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working above average, that's a good place to hold their division. All they need to do to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do against the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.

Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, which is surprising considering that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders before the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.

This hinges upon what version Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
